Whereas "Heaven", the last single we heard from The Walkmen’s upcoming album of the same name on Fat Possum, channeled their rambunctious youth, "We Can't Be Beat" is a mature jam suited for introspective moments on a secluded porch, beer in hand. I was the pony express / But I ran out of gas sings a road-weary Hamilton Leithauser over acoustic guitar. As lush vocal harmonies and a marching thump of drums kick in, it becomes a ballad of perseverance. Stream the track and check out the band's summer tour dates below.
