Today the committee for the 2012 Polaris Prize, which celebrates the year's best album from a Canadian artist, announced the short list of nominees, including Drake’s Take Care and Grimes’ Visions. Japandroids and Cadence Weapon are also in the running; see the entire list here. The Weeknd's Echoes of Silence was included on this year's long list of Polaris nominees, but dropped from the short list. The prize, along with a $30,000 check, will be decided by a panel of Canadian journalists and broadcasters and awarded on September 24th.
