Video: Jhene Aiko, “3:16AM”

August 09, 2012

Jhene Aiko peacefully confronts her dark side on "3:16AM," a serious, minimal banger produced by Fisticuffs, a longtime collaborator also responsible for "Stranger" and Miguel's "Arch and Point." In this new video, directed by Topshelf Junior, Aiko is alone with her thoughts; it's a somber reminder that growth rarely comes without some time spent facing down gnarly shit. The quiet siren has built her career slowly, stepping away from a major label contract to nurture her own writing and release a forward-thinking tape, Sailing Soul(s), before inking a deal with Def Jam last year. Watch "3:16AM" above; Aiko shares her thoughts on the track below. For more on Aiko, read her GEN F.
