For "Tonight" Canyons and video artist Yoshi Sodeoka meld gorgeous, Ralph Bakshi-esque fluid visuals to lyrics that don't fit at all. Got to get out of this place/got to get out of here aren't exactly what you imagine thinking when you're staring at the ocean waves lapping at a private beach through a pastel lens, you know? But that's the beauty of the song in contrast with the video. It's a subtle illustration of how even the most beautiful place can feel like a trap at times. But then again, the other lyric in the song is I love the way you look tonight, so it could also be about really wanting to leave a club/beach/party/whatever with a girl. Take your pick! One is more depressing than the other.
