It's kind of amazing that it took this long to happen, but Danny Brown has finally popped up on a Don Trip song. No surprise that it's a highlight from Trip's new Help Is On The Way mixtape, which generally features Trip in his finest croaky voiced, shit-talking mode. So while the warped organ funk of Trip, Brown and Starlito’s "Solid Gold" is a definite standout, the whole tape feels not dissimilar from some of Beanie Sigel’s work in the golden Rocafella days: heartrending moments over hard drums that lead to moments of intense clarity. There's definitely worse company to be in.
