Stream: Herbcraft, “No Land”

Here's a list of words that describe Herbcraft’s music: smoky, disorienting, psychedelic, distant, pretty, overwhelming. But really what it boils down to is that Herbcraft is music as drugs. Their sound is so all encompassing that it changes perception. This might sound like hyperbole, but it isn't really. Listening to music is always going to change your view on something. Listen to a bummer jam and suddenly you're wandering the streets, moping wondering where your life went. Listen to something super happy, and all of a sudden you and all your friends are partying nonstop until the end of time (or when the song is over). It basically turns all of us into temporary manic depressives. "No Land" is a much more accessible offering from Herbcraft. It still has that distant, recorded-in-a-tunnel-that-like-nine-long-haired-dudes-just-hotboxed-in feel, but there's dubby guitar to anchor its excursions into more out there territory. The Astral Body Electric is out March 5th on Woodsist.
