Line Item: Hank’s Premium Daypack

May 13, 2013

Sure, we could (and do) talk endlessly about the clothes we love, but for our column Line Item, we ask some of our favorite designers to tell us what they think about the best pieces from their newest collections. Today, Adam Rice of Hank tells us about the Premium Daypack:

Since we first started thinking about Hank eight months ago, one of our goals has been to shine a light on smaller domestic manufacturers. One of the first manufacturers that came to mind when brainstorming collaboration projects was Parrott Canvas, a small, roughly 40-person company in Greenville, North Carolina. We already knew about Parrott's outstanding products and pitched the idea of a custom collaborative daypack to Mickey Parrott, the company's founder and owner. Mickey was more than happy to work with us.

We took Parrott's Daypack design, altered the materials, and made a few additions: we used a heavyweight 18oz. waxed canvas for the body and a beautiful 5oz. Horween Anilene Chromexcel leather for the bottom. We also added leather lash and pull tabs, red nylon accents, and brass zippers. Finally, we topped it off with a collaborative Parrott Canvas for Hank patch. The bag has a classic look and is made with outstanding materials that will stand up to the test of time and only get better with age.
