From the moody, hummed refrain to the deep bass hits and the vinyl scratch sounds, this new track from French producer Sam Tiba has early aughts trip-hop written all over it. But where that notoriously cosmopolitan-sounding, walking pace genre can have a kind of blocky, repetitious quality, Tiba seems to enjoy going off the grid, channeling lightness and delicateness through the whole with some legitimately technical piano runs. Not sure what's up with this 19-word title, but music conveys a similarly romantic sentiment. Tiba's new EP, The Saddest Show in Town, is out this week via Pelican Fly, and is available via iTunes and Beatport.
