FADER PREMIERE

The press release for A Lily’s Lupa EP—solo project of Brighton's James Vella—cites Remus and Romulus, Carl Sagan, Twin Peaks and Penelope Cruz as influences, which I can discern scant little of in the homespun "The Sparrow in the Lemon Tree," though I don't much mind. With a string quartet, cute typewriter-like percussion and the opening line The day I wrote this song, my dog ran away, there's plenty to win me over without knowing what's going on deep in Vella's head. A Lily's Lupa EP is out November 12th in the US and the UK via Aagoo and Love Thy Neighbour.
