Public School Wins the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund

Menswear brand Public School wins the fashion industry’s highest honor.

November 12, 2013

We always knew that Dao Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne's luxe menswear brand Public School was special. In the last 12 months or so, thankfully, the rest of the world has caught up, and interest in their signature brand of high-end black leather streetwear has hit peak attention. Now selling at Barney's, they won one of the industry's most prestigious awards back in June, the Swarovski young men’s design award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America. And last night, the CFDA bestowed an even higher honor on them as winners of the CDFA/Vogue Fashion Fund. Chaired by Vogue's Anna Wintour, the competition follows 10 young designers throughout the year and then grants the one with the most "demonstrable talent" $300,000 in funding and mentoring from fashion industry legends. Below, watch past FADER coverage of the brand, including a video interview and a playlist they made us this year for NYFW. What a year it's been for high-end streetwear. (image The Cut)
