In the thick of this year's March Madness, let's take a moment to zoom in on a different kind of college basketball star: Johannesburg-based Lenny Mogoba. The 23-year-old talent is a starting center on the University of Witwatersrand's girls basketball team, and she's simultaneously studying to be a doctor at the prestigious school's medical campus. In this new micro-documentary, we get to spend some more time with the always-smiling athlete, in her own world. "It puts you in a position where you have to be realistic," Mogoba said of balancing sports and her studies in our recent interview. "At the end of the day I’m a student before I’m a basketball player." Watch the whole mini-doc above, artfully shot by Adriaan Louw and featuring the track "Flowing Through My DNA" by Cape Town emcee Youngsta. Stay tuned for the second and final installment of Mogoba's video series, and read more about our other featured artists and street-culture tastemakers from South Africa at TheFADER.com/Sprite.
