If you are an up-and-coming indie rock band from Williamsburg, or the owner of a hip clothing boutique on the Lower East Side, you could now own a domain name that tells the world you’re a New York City original. Business Insider reports that people and businesses with a physical address in any of the city’s five boroughs can apply for a .nyc domain name starting today through October 3. An auction will be held on October 7 to determine who will get a specific domain if there were multiple bids. Wonder who'll be first to punctuate their Big Apple cred: Jay Z or recent FADER cover stars Ratking, maybe?
