Listen to Karen O’s Lo-fi, Lovesick “Day Go By”

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman shares her latest crackly Crush Song.

September 03, 2014

With contributions to the soundtracks for Her, Where the Wild Things Are and a leaked collection of home-recordings, it's clear that Karen O is no stranger to going it alone. That said, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman's first official solo album Crush Songs doesn't come out until next week and aside from the bite-sized indie pop masterwork "Rapt" we haven't heard much from that record, aside from the news that it catalogs a period of O's life that was dominated by an "ever continuing love crusade." Today, she's mercifully issued another a dusty and downcast bedroom recording called "Day Go By." It's built around little more than O's voice and a messily strummed acoustic guitar, but it manages to use its two minutes to craft a lovely little tale of lovesickness. Listen below and pre-order Crush Songs, which is out September 9 on Julian Casablancas' Cult Records.
