Stream Jammer, Skepta and J-Cush’s Grime Set from August’s Lit City Rave

Grime’s stars go transatlantic, dropping bars over a set spanning the genre’s history.

Grime hasn’t yet fully taken off in the US, but that isn't stopping Lit City Trax's J-Cush from doing admirable work to make that happen. In July, he brought out two of the scene’s biggest stars, Skepta and Jammer (pictured above with J-Cush and Ratking's Wiki), for a surprise set at a MoMA PS1 Warm Up. The crowd was a little confused at first, being largely unacclimated to the rapid-fire mixing style, 1000% testosterone, and rewind-heavy nature of grime performances, but by the end they were won over, particularly by the massive “That’s Not Me.” J-Cush then brought them back again two weeks later for one of his Lit City Raves, and their set completely took off. With J-Cush behind the decks, the duo rapped over instrumentals running the gamut of grime’s history, from Dizzee Rascal’s utterly classic “I Luv U VIP” to forthcoming tracks on Lit City Trax by Massacooramaan and Drippin. In case you missed it, catch up now with the live mix in full below.
