Manolo Blahnik and Walter Van Beirendonck Made Crazy Ass Backpacks for Charity

The first three contributions to Eastpak’s Artist Studio have been revealed.

October 08, 2014

As part of their yearly Artist Studio initiativeEastpak had KRJSTManolo Blahnik and Walter Van Beirendonck take liberties with their standard Padded Pack'r, producing some of the wildest backpacks we've seen. KRJST, the Belgium-based psychedelic label, designed a backpack we can only imagine was heavily inspired by Burning Man. Blahnik, known for his iconic ritzy footwear, contributed a clean white pack trimmed in red puff balls and a stitched signature from the designer. Perennial fashion-freak and FADER fave, Van Beirendonck crafted a sculpted black leather creature. All of the customized bags, including 16 more from designers including Jean Paul Gaultier, will eventually be auctioned off online, with the proceeds going to Designers Against AIDS. Watch these videos promoting the project and detailing the inspiration behind Designers Against AIDS, then peep the first roundup of backpacks, below.
