Vince Staples Seeks Out The Church In “Fire”

Vince Staples' excellent Hell Can Wait EP opens with the binary: School couldn't get me into heaven / And heaven couldn't get me in a bitch's bed. So maybe it isn't too surprising that Staples set the video for "Fire" inside of a church confessional. Staples' pent up energy in the booth, along with the clergyman's increasing discomfort, suggests this might not be the place for him to vent as transparently as he hopes, and by the song's close it may all be in vain: I'm probably gonna to go to hell anyway.
