Jacques Greene Announces New EP With Video Exploring Consumer Fetishism
“1 4 ME” is a gently shifting number from the Montreal producer’s After Life After Party EP on LuckyMe.
If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times: Jacques Greene treads the line with joy and sorrow with the grace of a tightrope walker. Today he announces a new EP called After Life After Party with the video for the gently shifting "1 4 ME," which spins his MO into a film about consumer fetishism. Directed by Melissa Matos of Montreal design collective Trusst, it builds on the simultaneous thrill and chill of a new purchase by exploring the YouTube trend of Nike TN dipping, in which sneaker fans destroy the thing they love most. Yes, it's a real thing.
"These tracks were born out of experimenting with a bit of self-imposed restraints," Greene told us over email. "Afterlife was a particular sound palette I wanted to stick to and see what would come of it. '1 4 Me' was trying to challenge myself to keep an arrangement dead simple. They came out of a period that was actually really prolific for me and I hope to share more soon, but these two stuck together with a playful spirit. Some fun for the end of summer, as we tread into winter."
