Watch Common’s Golden Globes Acceptance Speech

“I am the unarmed black kid who maybe was given a hand, but instead was given a bullet.”

One of the most memorable moments at last night's Golden Globes awards ceremony was Common and John Legend winning Best Original Song for their "Glory," for the movie Selma. When the two stepped up to the podium, Common gave an impassioned speech addressing the spate of unarmed black teens murdered by police officers in 2014, as well as the recent tragic fatal shootings of New York City Police Department officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos. "Selma has awakened my humanity," Common said, thanking the film's director Ava DuVernay for being a "superhero." Watch the speech above.
