Edinburgh-born, Glasgow-based producer Dressin Red will release his debut EP, Head/Body, on Astral Black this January 26th. If you're a fan of heavily layered, deeply emotive instrumentals that draw on field recordings and samples alike, then you should probably pre-order it quick-smart. "Rudeboy," which it taken from the Body side of the cassette, is the one that got my skin tingling the most—and it turns out that FADER's favorite R&B superstar had something to do with it.

"'Rudeboy' actually came out of trying to make an edit of the Rihanna track with the same name," Dressin Red told The FADER. "After messing around with her vocals though I decided it sounded better as an instrumental. I think I was trying to create something that made you tense up but eventually reached a sense of release. This seemed to be quite a natural last track for the Head/Body tape."

If you're in London, catch Dressin Red at The Alibi on Saturday 7th February.
