Daytrip Premiere Brutal, Beautiful Video For Vybz Kartel Remix “Up To The Crime”

Dip into the brutal world of West London’s illegal gun trade.

January 26, 2015

Last summer, Daytrip returned from a trip to Jamaica with an unreleased Vybz Kartel track called "Up To The Crime," a dusty dancehall track that the New York production duo reanimated with a thick, trap-inspired remix. The remix's accompanying visual, which they are premiering with FADER today, brings viewers to yet another corner of the world: West London.

Beautiful, brutal, and perfectly befitting of the remix, the video depicts London's illegal gun trade. "Everyone in the video are real people from West London, not actors. Also all the locations, cars, and etcetera are real and shot on location, so it's kind of like a little documentary," the video's director, Act Natural, told us. "There's a lot of tragedy around gun ownership and trafficking. I was trying to find a way to express that in an honest and nonjudgmental way." Watch above, download the song below, and keep tabs on Daytrip's journey at takeadaytrip.tumblr.com.
