Sunflower Bean Makes Classic Rock For Generation Z

The NYC trio premieres its ‘Show Me Your Seven Secrets’ EP in full.

January 26, 2015

Sunflower Bean seem like the sort of simultaneously retro-minded and internet-savvy New York City teenagers that would kill time scouring Ebay for rare classic rock tees. They're the type who worship Tame Impala and Black Sabbath, listening to dusty vinyl LPs when they're not making Spotify playlists. The heady rock songs on the trio's debut EP, Show Me Your Seven Secrets, reflect a fine-tuned ear for faded garage and psych sounds: melodic riffs, little shrieks, noisy smears of feedback sludge. It's also decidedly heavier than the sorta-twee band name suggests. The EP officially drops tomorrow, but you can stream the entire thing on The FADER right now.
