We Can’t Get Enough Of Calvin Love’s Dreamy Hibernation Ballad

The Edmonton songwriter keeps getting better and better.

Calvin Love may share a gentle pop sensibility with fellow Edmontonians Mac DeMarco and Alex Calder, but he's less the arch jokester and more the whimsical forest wanderer. On "Daydream"—the first cut from a forthcoming album on Toronto's Arts & Crafts, due out sometime in 2015—he tempers the bouncy guitar lines and effervescent tambourine shakes with his earnest croon. It's a mellow departure from the more new wave-y, synth-driven work he gave us a taste of last year, and feels like proof that his omnivorous interests, which span from punk to soft rock, are ripening into something lush and satisfying. "Daydream was written as an escape plan, from the everyday routine," Love told The FADER via email. "A call out to a special someone, while waiting for the winter to fade." Tourdates below.

Tourdates:

2/26 Baby's All Right - Brooklyn, NY

6/6-7 Field Trip Music & Arts Festival - Toronto, ON
