FADER cover star Kacey Musgraves played a new song, "Family Is Family," on national TV last night. Like "Biscuits," the first single from her forthcoming Pageant Material album, "Family Is Family" is heavily pun-based. “They own too much wicker and drink too much liquor,” sings Musgraves. “You’d wash your hands of them, but blood’s always thicker.” Later, she added more winking lines like “family is family, in church or in prison,” and “they might smoke like chimneys but give you their kidneys.” The track rollicked gently—full of quick acoustic strums, pedal steel guitar, and the gentlest of rhythms. Musgraves' band rocked matching suits, as per usual,
