Jacob Banks Looks For Silver Linings On His New Single, “Grace”

Shiver-inducing soul from the 23 year-old British singer.

23 year-old Jacob Banks has the kind of voice that makes you do a double take. A couple of years ago, he dropped his Monologue EP on Soundcloud, and before long thousands were looking up his name after he recorded a pretty overwhelming live version of Rihanna's "Stay" for BBC Radio 1Xtra—in the process becoming the first unsigned act to ever appear on the radio station's Live Lounge show. Since then, he's only released one single, the upbeat FIFA-soundtracking "Move With You." But today, he's back with a track that has all the same shiver-inducing effect as that first live performance.

On "Grace," from his upcoming self-released EP, Banks does what he does best, stripping down everything but the vocal and his raw soul. The song is "about the pushes and pulls of being a man and learning how to deal with situations," he told The FADER. "Choosing between being graceful or being a monster, finding a silver lining between love and war."
