Musical comebacks have been in the air in the last 18 months in a variety of genres: D’Angelo, Garth Brooks, Sleater Kinney, and Aphex Twin all returned with new albums after extended periods of silence. Richard James, the man behind Aphex Twin, released Syro in September of last year. Today, he announced that he’s also resuscitating the series of releases he put out under the name AFX. The last of those, Analord 11, appeared in June of 2005. Slightly more than a decade later, on August 21, Warp will release a new AFX project titled Orphaned Deejay Selek (2006-2008). You can sample the eight track release on Warp’s website, and read FADER’s recent interview with James.
