Following the death of Freddie Gray at the hands of the police earlier this year, Prince released a new song, “Baltimore,” with Eryn Allen Kane. The star also performed a “Rally 4 Peace” show in the city.
Today, Kane put out a video for Prince’s track. The clip combines photographs and footage from the protests with headlines from the media's coverage of the protests and the song’s lyrics. One of the final shots is a sign that reads, “Black Lives Have Value.” This is followed by a statement from Prince: “The system is broken. It’s going to take the young people to fix it this time. We need new ideas, new life.”
