A lot is happening August 28: the Weeknd is promising a new album that combines Prince, Michael Jackson, and Whitney Houston; the rising star Alessia Cara is releasing her debut EP, and now Justin Bieber is planning to put out a new single as well. This is smart timing for the Biebs—you can currently find him floating high on the charts with the Skrillex/Diplo collaboration "Where Are Ü Now."
According to Billboard, the new single will be titled "What Do You Mean," and it will channel the same sonic approach as "Where Are Ü Now." Bieber said the song is inspired by "girls [who] are often flip-floppy." He also told Ryan Seacrest, "I've been working a lot in the studio, just trying to have a consistent sound, a cohesive sound. I had a rough week last week. I get in my head sometimes, and sometimes I just don’t want to to get out of bed."
