Like the blog, this Tumblr IRL celebration will incorporate a mix of Gucci-related art—from Cam Kirk, Distortedd, Yung Jake, Robert Gallardo, Tre Reising, Gangster Doodles, Rebecca Maria, Trouble Andrew, Alex Sheriff, Sage Guillory, Bernard Rollins and Malik Roberts—and music from 808 Mafia's TM88 and Southside, Rome Fortune, Farrington G, and a special guest. The party was curated by Electric Circus.
“I’ve probably spent many working hours getting lost in it on my dashboard just around Gucci Mane’s fandom,” Nate Auerbach, Tumblr’s head of music strategy and outreach, told The FADER via email. “I thought it would be a good idea to show it off in real life.”
“Gucci Mane is a living legend because he's impacted the careers of nearly all of the stars coming out of Atlanta today: Mike Will, Waka Flocka, Young Thug, The Migos, Young Scooter and even myself all got early starts in our career working with Gucci Mane," Cam Kirk, one of the party's featured artists, told The FADER. "He's never afraid to give others a chance and he has an amazing eye for talent.” Marlon Sassy, a member of Gangster Doodles, described Gucci as “a modern day Trap-Shaman.”
RSVP here for the Tumblr IRL party, to be held next Monday at Villain in Williamsburg. As a bonus, below, find a new Rome Fortune remix of Gucci's “Pillz.”
“I was in high school and my neighbor had the Trap House CD,” Fortune said. “I took one glance at the artwork with him and the females in the kitchen and was immediately sold.”
