Jamie Woon released Mirrorwriting in 2011, but despite appearing on other artists’ projects—notably Disclosure’s Settle—he hasn’t put out a solo album since then. He recently appeared on Beats 1 with an explanation for his silence: “I just was in North London for most of the time. If I haven’t got music to release I keep a low profile. There’s TV to watch and burgers to eat!” He also noted in the interview that he’s now working on his next album, and that he’s using D’Angelo’s landmark Voodoo album as a reference point.
Woon shared “Sharpness” yesterday via his SoundCloud. It’s a delicate, shimmering track, full of flickering rhythms and gilded falsetto. Listen below.
