Back in May, Manchester crew Madd Again! dropped their infectious opening statement, "Duggu," and it just found the warmest of welcomes at London's Notting Hill Carnival, which, it turns out, was all part of the plan. "When we decided we wanted to take Madd Again! out on the road, we knew it wasn't about the pop route," producer Zed Bias told The FADER. "Instead we started writing specifically for shows: from small, sweaty clubs to the big festival stages—and bass lines to move waistlines!"
Now Bias and MCs Killa Benz, Specialist Moss, and Trigga are ready to drop their 10-track strong debut LP, MaddTing Vol.1, on the world. Its raucous dancehall energy is undeniable and, the crew say, wholly spontaneous: "Myself, Zed, Killa Benz, and Trigga were in the studio beating out tunes and before we knew it we had MaddTing Vol. 1," says Specialist Moss. Killa Benz adds that the album came about with "no plan, just natural fun and energy." For Trigga, the process of making it took him back to his roots: "From the early age of seven years old, I have been into this style of music, so now the time has come to reveal Madd Again! to the world!"
