Adiam, the Swedish singer has released the first video "Dark Lake" from her upcoming EP Dark Lake, which is set to be released this October. The video begins with a shot of bubbles underneath a black sea and then switches to a wide clear shot of a rocky lake coast, all captured in black and white. Her vocals then pierce into the scene, her signing: On a dark lake / And I can’t sleep/ Fear is a bell that wakes up everything. The imagery in the video is repetitive, eerie, and gloomy, neatly complementing her eerie vocals.
"I shot the visuals with a group of friends on Gotland, an island off the coast of Sweden,” Adiam said in an email to The FADER. “It's a special place to me that I have been going to all my life. The island has a surreal quality. It is raw and rich, gloomy and beautiful at the same time. To me, Dark Lake is a reminder that sometimes we have to let go of our doubts and insecurities and stop worrying so much. It's about the power that lies in facing one’s own fears."
