Los Angeles-based producer DJ Chap is a member of Chicago footwork collective Teklife's extended family, which makes his ability to bend sound no surprise. Today, we're premiering the soulful and textured “Forest,” from his 2 Climb A Tree EP due November 13th on L.A. label TAR. Chap takes a sample of an old-timey jazz singer accompanied by a smooth sax melody and pairs it with swift footwork kicks, lending the track an exciting edge. He credits a past crush as the muse for the colorful song: "I wrote this song to a girl I had a crush on,” he told The FADER. “She'll probably never hear it, but it was inspired by her."
