Get Ready For The Weekend With Avant-Club Producer Rushmore

With new video “Air Worm,” the London artist twists up G-Funk.

October 16, 2015

London-based artist Rushmore has brought everything from ghetto house to Jersey club to U.K. nightlife with his House of Trax and Rhythm Talk parties. As a producer, he's similarly globally minded, and his latest offering "Air Worm"—premiering above—takes the listener right out to the Californian coast, fusing the high-pitched wobble of your favorite '90s funk with a sparse, futuristic club aesthetic.

"'Air Worm' is a homage to my love of G-Funk," Rushmore explained to The FADER over email; "growing up listening to a lot of it, trying my best to channel some of that vibe in with my production techniques, in particular the Moog-produced, high-pitched 'worm' sound, a staple ingredient of the P/G-Funk sound. The track is also a tribute to my favourite Dennis Rodman signature basketball shoe from '96 [called 'Air Worm'], with the hope that my music projects as much flare, entertainment and lasting memories that he does."

"Air Worm" is taken from World Series Vol. 12, out Monday October 26 on Trax Couture.
