Conrad Sewell built his now-budding pop career the hard way, sending out tapes since he was 8 years old and maxing out credit cards to record demos. In 2015, the Brisbane native is seeing the pay off, topping the Australian charts with single "Start Again", and getting worldwide name recognition with a striking feature on Kygo's very global smash "Firestone."

His most recent single "Hold Me Up" is now building buzz ahead of the early 2016 release of his debut EP. It's more of what works for Sewell—undeniably upbeat pop with plenty of opportunities to showcase his vocal range, which he does with glee in the above video captured during a recent performance at the legendary CBGB space in NYC.

"This record was a fun one to write," Sewell told The FADER. "It was born from a crazy night at the studio where we set up a mic in the mixing room and just partied until we had something down. It was especially cool having the opportunity to preform it it at the CBGB space in NYC—such a sick venue with such rich history."
