The extended version of his LP breathes new life into the New York scene.

Brooklyn rapper Jimi Tents is only 19, but he has a strong vision. Early releases like "Elmer Fudd" and "Landslide" got the ball rolling, and now he is using that momentum to release an extended 14-track version of his 5 O'Clock Shadow EP. Hungry and baring hints of trap, "All Of It" and the quietly self-reflective "The Way" demonstrate his ability to mix it up.

It sounds effortless, but that doesn't mean it didn't take hard work. "This body of work is the hardest thing I've ever worked on in my life," Tents told The FADER. "Throughout the creative process I endured the turmoil of not having a solid place to record, doing music full time and not working a 9 to 5, eating dollar pizza day in and day out to not even having subway fare to get home somedays. But I found a way."
