This Is What “Slow” Means In New Jersey

In the second episode of The Slang Show, Hackensack rapper Das$h introduces us to some local vernacular.

Da$h knows a lot about weed, and he also knows a lot about New Jersey slang. When the Hackensack native stopped by The FADER's offices earlier this year, he taught us how to flip an innocuous word like "slow" into a hard-hitting "no." If you find yourself on the other side of the Hudson River and someone tells you something is "slow," Da$h explains that they might actually mean that "it's not gonna happen. The movement is over. We ain't doing that." Noted.
