Miguel Recruits Travi$ Scott For The “Waves” Remix

“Pull up on ya on my surfboard like I’m Kelly Slater.”

Miguel and Travi$ Scott both share an interest in the textures of rock and roll. Miguel's Wildheart, released last year, came slathered with fuzzy guitars and included a guest appearance from Lenny Kravitz; Scott's "Piss On Your Grave" sounds like an homage to Led Zeppelin.

It's no surprise, then, that the MC is right at home contributing to the remix of Miguel's "Waves." Miguel's hook revolves around a simple conceit, sex as surfing: All night, I'm gonna ride that wave/ Look here, I wanna surf in it baby. Scott goes one step further by referencing actual surfers—be your man? I can be that later/ Right now I might pull up on ya on my surfboard like I'm Kelly Slater.

Between Anderson .Paak's surfer-referencing Malibu, Kanye West's new album title, and the tropical house resurgence, water imagery has made a sudden and decisive comeback. No word yet on how Wiz Khalifa feels about this song.
