Sheer Mag are a punk band that, by their own admission in their GEN F profile, do not shy away from their feelings, even and perhaps especially if that makes you uncomfortable. Their newest track “Can't Stop Fighting” combines plucky riffs with specifically female horror and distress: “Paloma walks home at night from the maquiladora / 8 days later, no one has saw her / Sometimes she worked late / Don't that tell you just what's at stake?” Far from mourning random violence, frontwoman Christina Halladay decries the passive observers that allow something systemic and vicious to carry on: “You say you don't understand / I can see the blood, it's on your hands.” It's a line in the sand you can dance to.
