At the beginning of Vice’s latest “Munchies” video, Waka Flocka thinks aloud about the prospect of being the “first hood vegan rapper” in history. He seems undaunted by the title and remains committed to his dietary restrictions: “I just didn’t want to be fat,” he says. “I got tired of breathing hard; I got tired of my joints hurting.”
Raury, another young artist from Atlanta, is also a principled vegan: “The first thing people ask when I tell them I’m a vegan is, ‘where do you get your protein from?’ It comes from all different kinds of shit—there’s so many things that give you more protein than meat.” That being said, he admits to missing the food group sometimes, noting wistfully, “I have wet dreams about Chick-Fil-A.”
The clip finds the two MCs in the kitchen, and together the pair whip up a batch of vegan blueberry muffins. Waka says of the final product, “it’s like a Chick-Fil-A sandwich.” Watch above.
