Ezale Returns With A New Video For “Day Ones”

The Oakland rapper has released his first single off of The Tonite Show album with DJ Fresh.

March 16, 2016

Ezale became an overnight sensation in 2013 with his "Five Minute of Funktown" video, an Oakland take on Whodini's classic. But he's been relatively quiet since his debut tape Drug Funnie, releasing one single last year and appearing recently on regional tracks.

Here, he returns in top form over a funky beat courtesy of Hawk Beatz, a protégé of Oakland-based producer DJ Fresh. Fresh's Tonite Show series has featured everyone from Oakland mainstays J Stalin and Keak Da Sneak to nationally revered MCs like Raekwon and Freddie Gibbs. "Day Ones" is an ode to friendship, and the video finds Ezale riding around East Oakland on scraper bikes with his squad. Fresh hinted on Instagram that the forthcoming album with Ezale is finished and should arrive any day.
