LCD Soundsystem To Play First Reunion Shows This Weekend

In New York City.

March 24, 2016

Earlier this year, LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy wrote a lengthy Facebook post explaining the band's decision to get back together. It ended with a statement of purpose: "The only thing we can do now is get back into the studio and finish this record, and make it as fucking good as we can possibly make it. It needs to be better than anything we've done before, in my mind, because it won't have the help of being the first time. And we have to play better than we’ve ever played, frankly. Every show has to be better than the best show we've played before."

That's a high bar, and the band will attempt to reach it this weekend: Murphy and co. announced today that their first reunion shows will take place at Webster Hall in New York City this Sunday and Monday. LCD Soundsystem shared the news on Twitter by posting an image of a poster that reads, "back from the dead."

Later this year, the group is slated to headline major festivals, including Coachella and Lollapalooza.
