Let Mexican Producer Demian Licht Hypnotize You With “Sin”
This dark and haunting track is perfect for any dimly lit dance floor.
Demian Licht is a DJ warrior. The barrier-breaking Mexico City native has an undeniable dark techno sound that has helped her carve out her place in the white-male-dominated world of dance music, and I for one am so thankful she did. Her track "Sin," from her upcoming debut EP Female Criminals Vol. 1, is full of everything to love about a great techno track. It's upbeat and fast-paced with measured builds, but what really makes is is the hauntingly hypnotic sound of Licht's chopped up chant of the word sin.
The mogul-to-be was recently featured in Tribes, a documentary about the Discwomen collective and their mission to promote diversity and equality in the dance music scene.
In turn, the song "Sin" is about showing off the multifaceted nature of the female psyche, said Licht. "This track exposes the notion that behind a female mind, inside of a body that is able to give life, there could exist in parallel, a machiavellian mind, able to provoke death and able to be wicked," she told The FADER through email. Licht's new label Motus Records will release Female Criminals Vol. 1 on April 22.
