Following reworks of classic Janet Jackson and Cyndi Lauper tunes on her Neo-Nostalgia EP earlier this year, singer-songwriter Allana Verde has returned with a new video for “Warning.” The video features the 22-year-old north Londoner chilling on a roof and at a party, while she sings damn, bitches wanna take away my baby over a sample of Biggie’s 1994 classic “Warning.”

“I was in the studio with [producer] DaVinChe and felt like I really wanted to be a hip-hop MC,” she explained to The FADER over email. “We were talking and vibing and ‘Warning’ by Biggie ended up getting played. It should be illegal to play it at anything less than maximum volume! We just kept the vibe going with it on loop and I decided I needed the essence, so we reimagined it from our perspective.”
