Prince’s Band The Revolution Is Reuniting

Members of one of his classic lineups are returning to the stage.

April 26, 2016

The Revolution was Prince's band from 1979 to 1986, and recorded 1984's Purple Rain, 1985's Around The World In A Day and 1986's Parade with the artist, in addition to performing on tours. The band went through several iterations before dissolving in 1986, though there have been sporadic reunions since then (including one in 2014 that Prince “drove right past,” according to an essay by Questlove). Today, the group announced that they have regrouped after Prince's death, and will “do some shows soon.” Five of the 14 members who played with The Revolution at one time or another announced their intentions to participate, and were introduced in the video by five unnamed associates.
