Singer-songwriter Hayden Arp is still in school in Ohio, but that won't stop him from releasing his debut EP For Gabriel, out August 12. The EP's first single, premiering today, is the tingling, gorgeous "In The Fading Light." Arp's soft found sounds-backed vocals lead through static into swelling guitar and drums, and back again. In an email to The FADER, Arp wrote eloquently about his intentions with this powerful song:

I wrote "In the Fading Light" about two years ago, at a time where a lot of my songwriting was slipping towards the supernatural. I loved the idea of music as transportation, a means of moving people through environments or moments unfamiliar to them. With "In The Fading Light," I wanted that moment to be equal parts magical and jarring. I wanted the world to invert on itself, to expand and constrict with incredible force, and I wanted to be there with you, feeling overwhelmed, amazed, or terrified by what was going on. I think a lot of this stemmed from my thoughts on faith at the time — something that also felt huge, scary, and unknown. In a way this song is just trying to get at that feeling: being confused, scared, and lost within it all.
