“Here is a man that is taking a non-violent stand to bring attention to this horrible problem.”

August 30, 2016

Tina Lawson, mother of Beyoncé and Solange Knowles, posted a photo of her television where San Francisco 49er's quarterback Colin Kaepernick's recent protest was being discussed. Kaepernick sat during the National Anthem of his team's weekend game, Lawson wrote in her post this was a "brave" action by the QB.

Kaepernick had said of his actions he wouldn't stand for a flag that "oppresses black people and people of color."

Lawson wrote of Kaepernick, "He is not saying he does not love or respect his country or our flag, but the flag is supposed to be a symbol of freedom, equality, and justice for all!!" She went on to say he was truly being brave and that people should be supporting him.
