Rihanna’s Puma Show Was Really Fun

Inside Rih’s cotton-candy Marie Antoinette athleisure fantasy.

September 28, 2016

Compared to last season's thundering health-goth show on a Friday night, Rihanna x Puma's Spring/Summer collection was staged much more delicately. Rihanna presented her wares in an airy, ornate mansion in Paris, a decision, she would later chalk up to the collection's Marie-Antoinette-hits-the-gym vibe. The collection itself was a rainbow of slightly aged candy colors, with unusual cut-outs and silky fabrics. The collection overall was much more raw silk than terry cloth, but Puma's athletic DNA was still discernible in silhouette: fancy lace bustiers (for men, too!) were paid with oversized sweatpants and creepers, and silky teddies were transformed into tennis jackets. Somehow, it all worked. Here's what it was like.
