The position of London's first Night Czar has been handed to Amy Lamé. The broadcaster and promoter has been appointed by Mayor Sadiq Khan to champion the value of London’s night time culture.
U.S.-born Lamé is best known as a broadcaster and BBC Radio DJ. She has also run LGBTQ club night Duckie in London since the mid-‘90s and spent a year as Mayoress of Camden between 2010-2011. She will work closely with Sadiq Khan, Transport for London, Metropolitan Police Services, local authorities, and businesses to develop and diversifying London’s night time economy.
In her first initiative as Night Czar, Lamé is planning a series of monthly ‘Night Surgeries,’ where she will speak directly to businesses, night-time workers, members of the public and residents to better understand their needs.
