The Weeknd's latest album, Starboy, had a record-breaking first week on streaming platforms, according to exclusive information supplied to The FADER from a representative for The Weeknd.

The album reportedly enjoyed 400 million global streams during the first week of release. This includes numbers from Spotify, Apple Music, and other audio streaming platforms.

Starboy debuted at #1 on iTunes in over 90 territories, and all of the album's 18 tracks debuted in Apple Music's Top 20 list after The Weeknd appeared for his first on-camera interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1.

On Spotify, The Weeknd continued to break global records--including his own. His new record-breaking one-day-total is more than 40 million streams. The album also breaks the record for first week streams with more than 223 million listens. The Weeknd is now the number one artist on Spotify based on monthly listeners, a title previously held by Drake.
