At least 27 are reportedly dead after an explosion at Mexico's best-known fireworks market, the San Pablito Market, located just outside Mexico City, in nearby Tultepec.
Reuters reports that explosions broke out around 2:30p.m. Wednesday afternoon, destroying virtually all vendor stalls at the market, killing 29, and injuring as many as 70 people. Houses nearby were apparently damaged as well.
The blast is not the first of its kind at San Pablito. A similar incident occurred at the open-air market in 2005, injuring over 100. The story is still breaking, but the reported death toll has risen several times during the last few hours. More details to come as they become available.
